ORLANDO, FLA., September 18, 2019— Surf Expo, the premier watersports and beach lifestyle tradeshow, and Emerald Expositions announced today the promotion of Nikki Houston Duroe to Show Director of Surf Expo. Houston Duroe will continue to report to Roy Turner, Group SVP.
The promotion to Surf Expo Show Director recognizes Houston Duroe’s significant sales and event management accomplishments, as well as her strong customer service focus and dedication to building long-term relationships with Surf Expo exhibiting brands.
“Nikki is a strong, proven leader for Surf Expo and has a great understanding of the multiple markets we serve,” said Roy Turner, Senior Vice President, Emerald Expositions. “Her experience and outstanding track record are assets that will help us continue to build and strengthen the show.”
An industry professional with 24 years of experience, Houston Duroe has been instrumental in the growth of multiple events throughout her career and brings a proven track record of successful management and sales growth to her new role.
Houston Duroe’s career in conference and event planning began at AmericasMart in 1995. She joined DMG World Media as an account executive for Surf Expo in 1999 and from 2008 to 2013 served as show director for the Imprinted Sportwear Shows. Houston Duroe returned to Surf Expo in 2013, to develop the Swim, Boutique, Footwear and Mind & Body categories.
John “JR” Rosenberg was promoted to Senior Category Manager overseeing Surf Expo’s Coastal Gift, Resort, and Souvenir categories. Rosenberg, a 38-year industry veteran, was recently awarded Emerald Expositions’ President’s Club for his achievements.
Other notable changes within the Surf Expo team include the addition of Ryan Nettleton, returning as Category Sales Manager for Bluewater, Boutique and Wake. Ryan brings a breadth of knowledge to the team, having nearly 20 years of experience as a sales manager, show director, exhibits manager and general service contractor.
Turner added, “We are fortunate to have such a strong team of industry veterans supporting Surf Expo. The promotions will help to bolster the contribution of skills and talent and bolster our ability to deliver superior customer service, strengthen our marketplace and deliver compelling experiences and value for both our exhibiting brands, and retailers.”
